ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL WOMEN ORLAND EDUCATION FUND SCHOLARSHIPS: 

 

      I.            Criteria for Scholarships

  1. Applicant must be a female, legal resident of the United States of America
  2. Applicant must be a high school graduate or G.ED. equivalent
  3. Applicant must have at least a GPA of 3.0 or equivalent if currently a student
  4. Applicant must submit a completed application within the designated deadline
  5. Applicant must demonstrate the desire to further her education by completing the required application essay
  6. Applicant must demonstrate how the scholarship funds will be utilized by completing the required application essay

 

   II.            Scholarship Awards

Scholarship awards shall be defined annually at the beginning of the fiscal year

  1. Amounts: Scholarship award amounts shall be determined by net fundraising efforts
  2. Number: The number of annual scholarships granted annually shall be determined by the Fund board,  through majority vote, at the beginning of each fiscal year
  3. Frequency: The frequency of annual scholarship awards shall be determined by the Fund board,  through majority vote, at the beginning of each fiscal year
  4. Name: The name of each scholarship award shall be determined by the Fund board,  through majority vote, at the beginning of each fiscal year
  5. Deadline:  The deadlines for application submissions shall be based on award frequency as determined by the Fund board, at the beginning of each fiscal year
  6. Winners: The winners of each scholarship award shall be determined by the Fund board, through majority vote.

 

III.            Applications for Scholarships

1.      Completed application will include the following:

o   Name

o   Address

o   Contact Information

o   Name and City of High School or G.E.D Equivalent

o   Personal References (2 minimum)

o   Completed Questionnaire Detailing Personal Accomplishments

o   Completed Essay (minimum of 500 words)

o   Deadline Agreement Signed by Applicant

o   Fund Rules Agreement Signed by Applicant

o   Fund Usage Agreement Signed by Applicant

2.      If  applicant is currently a student, they will submit grade transcripts or report cards from a minimum of 2 successive grading periods

3.      Proof of High School Degree or G.E.D Equivalent

 

IV.            Scholarship Winners

1.      Winners will be selected by majority vote of the Fund’s executive board of directors

2.      Voting on winners will commence within a reasonable deliberation period following the deadlines for application submission

3.      The Fund’s board will evaluate applicants and select winners based on applications and essays and how well the applicant demonstrated the desire and intention of continuing their education.

4.      At any point in the selection process the Fund board may select a third party(s) to participate in the selection of and vote on winners.

5.      Winners will be notified via mail or telephone

6.      The winning dollar amount will be determined based on applicants placement among winners and will be based on the number and denominations of scholarships given for that particular fiscal year.  (example if scholarships are $1000, $500 and $250 and you place 3rd among applicants, you would receive the $250 scholarship
